Chris and Gretchen at the UO Museum of Art

I have never photographed a wedding at The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon before this past weekend, but I am glad that I got the chance. What an incredible location for an intimate wedding celebration. The Gretchen and Chris have been together since high school, over 15 years. When they finally decided that it was time to make their relationship official, they knew they had to have it at the museum. Chris' grandfather was director of the museum for twenty years, and so it had become a special place in the lives of his family. I love it when the location of the wedding has a connection to the wedding, I think it makes the day that much more special.
I met the bride prior to the wedding at the Excelsior Inn, just down the street from campus. She was busily getting ready with her friends while the guests arrived and were seated. When the moment was right, we all walked over to the museum and right into the ceremony where about 80 guests were waiting in an exterior courtyard. Chris and Gretchen tied the knot in front of a metal modern art sculpture of two intertwined columns. The evening was topped off with diner by the University of Oregon Catering, a Sweet Life Patisserie cake, and with wine from Sylvan Ridge/Hinman Vineyards and a selection of beers from Widmere Brother's Brewing.
